Former Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manzie was seen hanging out with pop singer Justin Bieber and some of his friends hours after his indictment this week. Manziel faces an assault charge following his former girlfriend's complaint earlier this year.
The grand jury in Dallas has indicted the ex-Cleveland football player on Tuesday to an alleged assault charge, the Washington Post reported. A warrant of arrest will be issued to Manziel, as the criminal court judge sets the amount of bond for the 2012 Heisman Trophy winner's misdemeanor domestic violence case. He is also expected to turn over himself and post bond next week.
Manziel's defense lawyer said on Tuesday that he has seen this coming. After the indictment proceeding, Manziel returned to Cleveland and was spotted hanging out with Justin Bieber, who was there for a concert in Quicken Loans Arena. He was joined by his former Cleveland Browns co-player, Joe Haden, and another friend.
The former footballer even uploaded a photo on his Instagram account, showing the good time he and his friends had with the pop singer.
With a bond of $1,500, he is set to stand on trial on the 5th of May, News Fix CW33 reported.
Manziel's ex-girlfriend, Colleen Crowley, was granted with a restraining order against the former quarterback. He was also barred from possessing weapons; however, he was not prohibited from alcohols. Crowley accuses the NFL player of kidnapping, hitting and threatening to kill her, according to Dallas News.
The indictment stated Manziel was "intentionally and knowingly causing bodily harm" to Crowley "by striking the complainant with a hand and by forcing the complainant into a vehicle and against a vehicle dashboard," the source quoted. His defense attorney said his client pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
Cleveland Browns has cut the 23-year-old ex-football player from their team in March. Manziel is known for his excessive partying and drinking vices, as well as his failed rehab.
