A suspect for the death of a woman, who was found at a Staffordshire home on Sunday, has appeared before magistrates. The man has been charged with murder earlier this week after the discovery of the woman's body on the same property he was living.
Philip Barlow, 36 years old, was arrested for the death of Fay Daniels, 30 years old, and was charged with murder on Monday, BBC News reported. Daniels' body was recovered at a Victoria Street property in Chesterton, on Sunday afternoon.
Barlow lives on the same property address where Daniels was found with multiple stab wounds. He took his initial court appearance at North Staffordshire Justice Centre on Tuesday and is set to appear at Stafford Crown Court on Thursday.
Though authorities have not yet formally identified the body, Staffordshire Police believes it is Daniels', according to the Sun. The victim, who was found in a terrace house, lives close to a Newcastle-under-Lyme market town.
The autopsy report states the cause of her death was from a number of stab wounds. According to police authorities' spokesperson, her families were already informed and "They were being offered support from specially trained officers."
Two forensic vans and a blue tent are still present at the crime scene location on Tuesday, outside the terraced house; however, the cordon has been removed at the Chesterton Park, SWNS.com reported. Authorities also inquired on nearby houses as the residents were still in shocked of the incident.
Liz Topp, a resident on the street for 10 years, said, "I came home at 8pm on Sunday night and saw all the police here. On Monday morning there was just one can but it appears more have come throughout the day. It's a sad sight to see," she stated.
Another resident, Tim Gerber-Mellish, 49, who just came to lived at Victoria Street two weeks ago, said he wasn't expecting to see such major crime investigations right where he currently lives.
