The Royal Family is still going to appear in the MCU, despite rumors that the film might have been cancelled. However, Marvel president Kevin Feige said that the Inhumans film is still a go but will not be released in 2019 as previously expected.
The Inhumans is one of the slated films to be released during the phase three of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But with the separation of the movie studio and Marvel Entertainment that is in charge of the tv series', as well as the mention of the Inhumans in the Agents of Shield, the project was rumored to be cancelled. According to Comic Book Movie, the rumor was later put to rest when two sources from Hitflix and Birth.Movies.Death denied such speculations.
Also, during his talk to Collider, Kevin Feige confirmed that the Inhumans movie is still within part of their larger plans for the MCU. But with the confirmation of other films such as Spider-Man and Ant-Man and the Wasp, the Inhumans project might have to wait before hitting the big screen.
"Since we made our initial phase three announcement, we addedSpider-Man, which was a big joyous coup for us. We added Ant-Man and the Wasp, which was a big fun continuation of that story for us. Walt Disney Company has announced an Indiana Jones film for right around that same time. So I think it will shuffle off the current date that it's on right now. How far down it shuffles, I'm not sure yet", Feige said.
According to Movie Pilot, the Inhumans was introduced in the comics as the genetically mutated species who were altered by the Kree to find ways to circumvent their revolution, as well as for militarization purposes during the Kree's war against the Skrulls.
But the Inhumans eventually formed their own society and secluded themselves. In the comics, the most powerful among the Inhumans was Black Bolt who was a child of two Inhumans and was exposed to the Terrigen Mist during the early stages of his development in the womb.
Black Bolt is the leader of the Royal Family of Inhumans along with his wife Medusa who is also one of the most powerful Inhumans. Other notable Inhumans are Karnak, Gorgon, and Triton. As of writing, no actors have been officially casted for the project.
The Inhumans was previously slated to be released in July 2019 but with Feige's statement the film's release date is still uncertain. Joe Robert Cole was tapped to write the movie's screenplay, but no director has jumped on board for the project as of yet.
