Tom Cruise is teaming up once again with director Edward Zwick for the upcoming Jack Reacher 2. The actor hinted details on what to expect for the sequel during the recent CinemaCon as well as the first teaser for the film.
Jack Reacher 2 is set to debut in theaters later this year and during the CinemaCon, a video of Cruise was released where he talked about the upcoming Mission Impossible 6 as well as the plans for Jack Reacher 2. As reported by Variety, Cruise described the character as an "analog character in a digital world" and stated that the flick as a "real classic movie, movie stuff."
According to Movie Web, a teaser was also revealed showing two cops investigating a diner parking lot as they took the witness accounts of the entire incident where two men were assaulted. They soon find out that the suspect did not leave the premises. The video jumps to Reacher in front of the diner with wounds and bruises.
Reacher was taken into custody as he was facing jail time. However, he said that two things will happen. First, that the telephone at the end of the diner will ring, and the cops will leave wearing their handcuffs. One of the police dared to give a comeback at Reacher's statements afterwhich the telephone rang.
The video is cut featuring random scenes including one that feature Reacher on the phone while the man on the other line said that "You're a dead man!" to which Reacher "One of us is, that's for sure." According to Movie News Guide, the sequel was shot in Baton Rogue, but will not feature the characters from the previous film as it will feature an entirely new plot.
The sequel will center on Reacher as he gets tied as suspect to a homicide case of a 16 year old which happened during his return to the headquarters of his first unit. Jack Reacher 2 is based on the novel by Lee Child. Its screenplay is written by Richard Wenk, Marshall Herkovitz, and Edward Zwick. It is set to hit theaters on October 21, 2016.
