Samsung Galaxy S6 edge units under Sprint have just received support for custom update to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. Although Sprint versions of the device have already received the official Marshmallow software, this custom support boasts new things for the device.
Sprint units of Samsung Galaxy S6 edge with model number G925P can now be manually updated based on the official Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow software. This custom upgrade boasts to have a more laidback and relaxed TouchWiz user interface, plus Doze and all those official features in line.
Through the support of Renegade firmware, Galaxy S6 edge of Sprint will be able to experience a stable and smooth Marshmallow. However, manually installing Marshmallow will need precautionary measures before anything else.
Also, there are prerequisites before one can install Renegade on the device. First is to root phone it and install with USB driver and a custom recovery. Additionally, it is a must to back all necessary files and data on the phone using TWRP or CWM or via Samsung Kies to prevent from losing them.
In some bizarre cases, this procedure might brick device. Hence, it is recommended to be responsible with one's actions. Take note that it will make device warranty void. Make sure as well that device is charged up to at least 80%.
Below is the quick guide on how to upgrade Samsung Galaxy S6 edge of Sprint to Marshmallow:
1. Download Renegade and Google apps package on the computer.
2. Connect Galaxy S6 edge on the compute using a USB cable.
3. Copy downloaded zip files from the computer.
4. Paste downloaded zip files to phone's memory card.
5. Turn the device off.
6. Enter Recovery mode by pressing volume +, home and power buttons all together.
7. Tap "wipe data/factory reset."
8. Tap "wipe cache partition."
9. Go to recovery mode.
10. Tap "wipe dalvik cache."
11. Go to main recovery menu.
12. Select "install zip from SD card."
13. Select "choose zip from SD card."
Confirm the installation now and repeat process from the top for the Google apps package. Then go to +++++Go Back+++++ and select "reboot system now." Wait for around five minutes for the installation to complete.
