Transformers 5: Story to focus on two arcs; Filming to take place in Detroit

Michael Bay confirmed that he is headed to the director's chair for the upcoming Transformer 5 but stated that the upcoming film will be his last time to direct in the franchise. Plot speculations are also rampant for the movie, stating that the story could focus on two arcs.

Despite previously claiming that the fifth film will not see his return, Bay has officially jumped on board for Transformers 5. However as reported by Christian Post, he also stated that it will be his last project as he wants a new director to provide a fresh take on the franchise.

"Transformers, I still have a great time. It's fun to do a movie that 100 million people will see. But this is the last one. I have to pass the reins to someone else." Bay said. Although Bay decided to return, writer Robert Kirkman who penned the previous installments was not involved in writing the project.

Kirkman lasted a day for the writers' room made for the franchise which was headed by Akiva Goldsman and also included Art Marcum, Matt Holloway, Zak Penn, and Jeff Pinkner. However, he was not able to return due to his throat surgery which he had to undergo. Moreover, as reported by Vine Report, Paramount Pictures' Lee Rosenthal revealed that filming for Transformers 5 will be set in Detroit like its four predecessors.

"Michigan has been so welcoming of Michael Bay and the 'Transformers' movies over the years, and we are thrilled to be returning for this next incredible installment," Rosenthal said. Official cast for the sequel have not been confirmed, but Mark Wahlberg is expected to return to reprise his role as Cade Yeager.

Wahlberg's Cade Yeager is rumored to play a major part in the plot as he would take the responsibility of handling the affairs that needs to be taken care of on Earth along with Ultra Magnus. As reported by News Everyday, Peter Cullen's Optimus Prime will also return and could be involved in a fight against the leader of the Quintessons.

Transformers 5 is also written by Andrew Barrer, Lindsey Beer, Gabriel Ferrari, Ken Nolan, and Geneva Robertson-Dworet. Details about the upcoming film are currently scarce, but more information are expected to be revealed for the project as it nears its June 23, 2017 release date.
