'The Conjuring 2' is an upcoming film intended as the second installment in James Wan's supernatural horror series. It recently premiered its latest official trailer taking the Warrens to an England horror house. Patrick Wilson, who plays Ed Warren, talked about the new challenges presented in the sequel.
According to First Showing, the latest official trailer for James Wan's follow-up to the blockbuster hit 'The Conjuring' has recently been revealed at the WonderCon. It featured lead actors Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga as real-life paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren's journey to England to tackle a case dubbed as the Amityville of England.
In the new film, the Warrens take on a new case of a single mother and her four children haunted by malicious spirits in their family home. It is inspired by the true-to-life case of the Enfield Poltergeist. Wilson and Farmiga are joined by Franka Potente, Frances O'Connor, Madison Wolfe, David Thewlis, Maria Doyle Kennedy and Sterling Jerins.
According to Variety, O'Connor plays Peggy Hodgson, a mother who helplessly watches her child tormented by a vicious evil spirit. Wan said during a Twitter Q&A session, "We wanted to mirror the story of Amityville. They are two of the most documented paranormal cases in the world."
The first film in the horror series released in 2013 told the story of the infamous Amityville horror case that took place in Rhode Island in the 1970s. It was a massive box office hit, earning $318 million against a $20 million budget making it the highest-grossing horror film of all time. It also received generally positive reviews from critics.
Wilson, who plays lead protagonist Ed Warren, revealed that the new film will also focus on the couple's internal struggles as they took on their paranormal investigations.
According to Yahoo! Movies, the 42-year old actor said, "The things that we alluded to in the first one - Lorraine's struggles with what this takes out of her, what really caused her to not want to do this anymore - we explore that... You know, we're a little older, a little wiser. But we still have that same drive. That's the crux of the Warrens' position: what's good for their family, and what's good for their souls, and wanting to help people."
'The Conjuring 2' is an upcoming supernatural horror film directed by James Wan. It features the return of Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga as the real-life paranormal investigators Ed and Lorrain Warren, respectively. It is scheduled to be released on June 10, 2016.
