Captain Marvel: Appearance in Guardians of the Galaxy 2 not happening; Doctor Strange, Ant-Man crossover teased

By

Many are eagerly anticipating for the arrival of Captain Marvel to lead in her solo film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe's phase three. Several actresses have been associated with the coveted role while online speculations suggest that she could be joined by Ant-Man and Doctor Strange in her adventures in the MCU.

The Captain Marvel solo film is still a couple of years away from finally hitting the big screen but according to Inquisitr, Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange and Paul Rudd's Ant-Man have been reported to make a crossover appearance in the flick.

Among its various iterations in the comics, Morning Ledger confirmed that Marvel has opted for the heroine's Carol Danvers alter ego. Danvers was a US Air Force member who was exposed to a Kree-made device following an explosion, which became a source of her powers. Among her superhuman abilities were the ability to fly, project explosive blasts against her enemy, and super strength.

The roster for the film's cast is still understandably empty as the project is still on its early stages but fans have already started to make a bet on who could don the suit of Captain Marvel in the MCU. Emily Blunt is rumored to be on the list for the role along with Natalie Dormer, Rebecca Ferguson, and Katee Sackhoff. UFC figher Ronda Rousey also previously expressed her interest to play the character.

It remains unknown when the anticipated heroine will make her MCU debut but rumor mill previously suggested that Captain Marvel as well as selected members of the Avengers could appear in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. II. However as reported by Cheat Sheet, such speculations were eventually debunked by director James Gunn who stressed that it is important to him that Quill would remain to be the only human in the film.

Aside from the cast, no director has been officially attached to helm the upcoming Captain Marvel. It is set to be written by Meg LeFauve as well as Nicole Perlman and will be produced by Kevin Feige. The film is currently slated to hit theaters on March 8, 2019.
