Avengers Infinity War to introduce new characters; Thanos not the sole villain?

By

Avengers Infinity War is still a couple of years away but it is anticipation is already being built around the two films as it could be the biggest films for the entire franchise. Aside from the pool of superheroes who will aim to bring down Thanos, speculations suggest that the ambitious villain might not be alone in his quest to be the most powerful being in the universe.

Joe and Anthony Russo have big shoes to fill as they will bring the heroes together for what could be the end of a part of MCU. According to Comic Book, both directors confirmed that they are already working on the films, and is planning to bring in a massive amount of characters.

As revealed by Joe Russo, new characters are set to appear in the Avengers Infinity War. "It's a big sprawling ambitious movie, it's about as ambitious as movies get and it should be, and the title alone indicates that there will be an incredible scape and scope to it.", he mentioned.

Anthony Russo added that they are still on the outlining phase for the film and the first draft for the film has not been submitted just yet, which makes it harder for them to talk about the project.

The upcoming films are heavily speculated to center in the Avengers' fight against the titan, Thanos who will aim to bring all Infinity stones together to wreak havoc in the universe. However, as reported by Australia Network News, director Joss Whedon said that it is likely that Thanos will also have his own legion of villains.

"He [Thanos] was always meant to be the puppet-master until he was done doing that, and then he'll be the big villain they face off with. Not solely - I'm sure there'll be plenty more [villains] in that monstrous epic film because one thing Marvel doesn't do is string a story out into two movies that shouldn't be two movies.", Whedon said.

Meanwhile, according to Movie Web another MCU baddie, Loki, might not appear in the upcoming Avengers flicks. In a recent interview, Tom Hiddleston who plays the role of Loki in the MCU revealed that he is excited to return to reprise the villain role, but also added that he is unsure of his return for Infinity War because everything has not been laid out yet.

Part one of the two films is two years away from hitting the silver screen thus the lack of confirmation is understandable, but more details will be reported as soon as they are revealed. Josh Brolin is expected to reprise his role as Thanos for Avengers: infinity War Part 1 which is slated to hit theaters on May 04, 2018.
