Owen Grady and Claire Dearing are bound to return for the upcoming Jurassic World 2. Latest plot speculations for the film suggest new dinosaurs for the sequel, while rumors about a shift in the protagonist role are around.
After making it big in the box office in 2015, a sequel for the dinosaur flick is really not at all surprising. However, the queries are more concentrated on the direction that the franchise is heading for the next installment.
Although official plot details have not been disclosed yet, Mstar Newss reported that director Colin Trevorrow has hinted on their long-term goals for the sequel. "We wanted to create something that would be a little bit less arbitrary and episodic, and something that could potentially arc into a series that would feel like a complete story.", he said.
Plot rumors are plentiful for the flick, some of which suggest that new dinosaurs could be introduced in the sequel that will defend the humans against danger. It can be noted that the Velociraptor, Blue, also previously defended Owen, Claire, and her nephews against the gigantic Indominus Rex in the first film.
According to Movie News Guide, other speculations suggest that the sequel may shift the central role from Chris Pratt's Owen to Bryce Dallas Howard's Claire which would focus more on the brains than the brawns that was exuded in the first film, while it could also feature the dynamisms in the female protagonist's character.
Meanwhile, as reported by Parent Herald, Howard has received the CinemaCon 2016 Award for her performance in Jurassic World as well as in The Help, 50/50 and The Village among others. She is set to receive the award at the end of the CinemaCon 2016 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
Aside from Pratt and Howard, no other actors have been confirmed to return to the sequel as of yet. Jurassic World 2 is set to be directed by J.A. Bayona and written byC Colin Trevorrow, Derek Connolly, and Michael Crichton. It is slated to hit theaters on June 22, 2018.
