Kong: Skull Island: Director Jordan Vogt-Roberts says pivotal scenes are being filmed in beautiful Vietnam

Filming is underway for the eagerly anticipated King of the Apes flick Kong: Skull Island. The cast and crew have arrived in late February and are shooting in Vietnam where majority of the important scenes will be set.

The cast and crew of the upcoming film arrived in Vietnam in February. According to Thankhnien News, the entire production required two aircrafts one of which was dedicated to fly the more than 100 crew members to the country, while a separate plane was used for the equipment. Some of the equipment for the film were also sent in through the sea.

The crew is set to stay in Vietnam for five weeks beginning February 22.They are to begin filming in Trang An-Tam Coc and Ninh Binh before proceeding to Phong Nha-Ke Bang and finally to Ha Long Bay. According to Youth Health Magazine, director Jordan Vogt-Roberts said that they fell in love with the scenery of the country as well as its hospitable people.

"We came to Vietnam during the process and were immediately stunned by the surreal beauty of your country, from the mountains to the vistas of everywhere we set foot on", Vogt-Roberts said. "We believe movie fans in the U.S. would wonder in awe as to where this beautiful place is.", he added. The director also revealed that the scenes to be filmed in Vietnam will be the most pivotal scenes in the film.

According to Highlight Hollywood, the authorities in Vietnam have also used the filming of Kong: Skull Island as an opportunity to promote tourism in the area. Some of the set pieces including a model of the giant gorilla will be set in the place.

Kong: Skull Island will center on a group of explorers as they travel to the home of the King of the apes. It will star Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson, Thomas Mann, Samuel L. Jackson, John Goodman, and Tony Kebbell among many others. It is set to hit theaters on March 10, 2017.
