Another casting has been confirmed for the Prometheus sequel, entitled Alien: Covenant as actor Ben Rigby has been confirmed for the project. 'Extreme' scenes are also to be expected from the sequel as director Ridley Scott said that he is aiming for a Rated R.
As reported by Variety, Ben Rigby has been added as the newest cast member of the franchise. He is set to star in a currently unknown role alongside Michael Fassbender who will reprise his role as the droid David as well as newbies Katherine Waterston and Danny McBride.
Plot details are currently under wraps, although its synopsis suggests that it will center on a new group aboard a colony ship that will land on what they thought to be an uncharted paradise. "the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world -- whose sole inhabitant is the "synthetic" David, survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition", the synopsis stated per Joblo.
Noomi Rapace's Dr. Shaw and Fassbender's David were the survivors of the events from the previous film, however, Dr. Shaw will not return in the upcoming film. In January, director Ridley Scott said that he is eyeing on getting a Rated R for the sequel.
Referencing on the chestbuster scene from Alien, Scott said that he is up for something worse. "I walked down the edge into the kitchen scene when John Hurt started to bring up his breakfast. That moment, I realized how pretty scary the film was... I felt a sense of responsibility that I had gone too far because it was extreme. I'm going to try and do that again this year, but much worse.", Scott said as reported by Comingsoon.net.
Alien: Covenant is set to be directed by Ridley Scott from screenplay by Michael Green and Jack Paglen and re-written by John Logan. It also stars Carmen Ejogo, Jussie Smollett, and Billy Crudup among many others. It is set to hit theaters in August 04, 2017.
