Tris Prior's journey is nearing its end with the upcoming The Divergent Series: Ascendant which is set to begin filming this spring. Franchise star Shailene Woodley expressed her excitement for the film, while author Veronica Roth revealed that changes are to be expected in the final movie.

Divergent: Allegiant has recently hit the theaters earlier this month, but actress Shailene Woodley is already excited to continue the journey for Tris. "I'm looking forward to seeing how the story is going to be constructed because I have no idea" Woodley said as reported by Fashion N Style.

"And we have a new director. You know, that's actually another exciting thing - working with someone new and seeing what visions he brings to the table.", the actress added. The new director mentioned by Woodley is Age of Adaline helmer Lee Toland Krieger who has filled in the seat vacated by director Robert Schwentke.

According to Variety, Schwentke's exit from the project was because he needed a rest, and not related to anything connected to the production. Filming is set to begin in spring. Plot details for the final installment of the YA franchise are currently unknown, although murmurings and online petitions have been started urging the studio to create an alternate ending for the movie.

The book series ended with a sad event as Tris decided to sacrifice herself for the people she loves. According to Bustle, Roth previous explained the book's ending by saying that a happy ending won't do justice to the changes the central character went through over the course of her entire journey.

Despite the original book series' sad ending, the movie ending could be different from its source as it has been divided into two movies. Ascendant was also given the tagline "The End Is Never What You Expect" which sparked the interest of many.

Furthermore, Roth shared her thoughts about the closing of the movie franchise, "Well, basically, it means there are going to be some changes, but it's really too early to know exactly what those changes will be or the extent of them.", she said.

The Divergent Series: Ascendant will also star Ansel Elgort, Theo James, Naomi Watts, Zoe Kravitz, and Jeff Daniels among many others. It is slated to hit theaters worldwide on Jue 09, 2017.
