'Beauty and the Beast' live-action adaptation boasts a "spine tingling" score by acclaimed composer Alan Menken. Luke Evans, who plays the evil Gaston, offered a behind-the-scenes sneak peek of the recording process.
According to Broadway World, Bill Condon's upcoming live-action adaptation of the classic Disney animated-musical film will feature brand new songs from the film's original award-winning composer Alan Menken. However, the original songs from the 1991 Disney film as well as the Broadway versions will not be included in the new 'Beauty and the Beast' film.
It was previously reported that Menken composed three new tracks with Tim Rice namely 'Forever More', 'Days in the Sun' and a yet untitled one.
Meanwhile, actor Luke Evans shared an exclusive behind-the-scenes photograph from the recording session, which was captioned, "If you could just hear this 93 piece orchestra playing the songs from Beauty and the Beast... It's Spine tingling ..." According to Playbill, the image shared on Twitter showed the actor against a backdrop of musicians in a massive studio.
Evans, who plays the main villain Gaston in the upcoming adaptation, expressed his enthusiasm over the new project during an interview with Hey U Guys during promotion for his thriller film 'High Rise' with Tom Hiddleston and Sienna Miller.
He said, "Well I think Bill Condon, the director, and Disney didn't want to rock the boat too much, you know? There's an amazing animation that I remember almost word for word as a child seeing it for the first time in the cinema. We're trying to tell that story... adding a few magical moments that you couldn't do in animation that you can do in live-action. But apart from that I'd say most people are gonna be completely absorbed into memory and it's gonna be the most beautiful experience."
He added that he was profoundly lucky to have been part of an early screening for the project, which still needed post-production adjustments before hitting the big-screens on March 17, 2017. Evans joins an ensemble cast that included Emma Watson, Dan Stevens, Ewan McGregor, Emma Thompson, Stanley Tucci and Ian McKellen.
'Beauty and the Beast' live-action adaptation is an upcoming film based on the classic Disney animated film of the same name. It is directed by Bill Condon and written for the big screen by Evan Spiliotopolous and Stephen Chbosky. It is scheduled to be released in May 2017.
