Android N has been revealed in its initial preview to bring more options and toggles for Android for Work. Expected to contribute to a more function Android N, options considered to be official and final are wallpaper locking, profile security challenge, and work mode toggle, among many others.
Google is determined to withstand its status as the widely used operating system in the world. The search giant can definitely do that with its efforts of beefing up its future software-the Android N. Per initial preview, Android N will make Android for Work a more fun and exciting feature to use with a lot more options added.
In an effort to make Android for Work more work-friendly, Google developers revamped this feature through Android N with new tweaks and features. Below is the quick list of new additions to Android for Work:
- Contacts app has been integrated between work profiles and the primary user to allow access from both ends;
- Always-on VPN allows device to automatically start up a work VPN at boot time designed for apps to enter the internet through a secure connection;
- Disabling data roaming can now be done on a system level;
- Ability to suspend access to certain apps. Suspended or disabled apps are marked in gray in the launcher;
- Organizations can configure a specific app to achieve work app restrictions;
- Organizations can modify work profile with company colors and logos;
- Organizations have the option to lock down the wallpaper and user icon for the work profile;
- Device owners can remotely activate and recover bug reports;
- Device owners can screen and record all kinds of actions, including app launches and screen unlocks;
- Device owners can choose a personalized lock screen message;
- Profile and device owners can recover information on the device's health, such as the CPU usage or temperature;
- Profile and device owners can award third-party apps access to client certificates as well as uninstall them;
- Profile owners and device owners can install many Wi-Fi CA certificates on a work device;
- Profile or device owner can now identify the dialer app;
- Setting up an Android for Work device will potentially be a much faster process, now that the setup wizard for work profiles supports QR code scanning;
- Users can now restrict location authorizations for all work apps while still permitting personal apps to access location;
