Google is taking baby steps with Android N revealing via initial preview additional toggles functioning in different programs. Android N Preview reveals two more buttons each in sound settings and download manager's notification.
Android N Preview introduced the mono playback toggle in sound settings and cancel button in download manager's notification promising to more functional programs. Take a closer look at them.
Mono Playback Toggle in Sound Settings
The mono playback toggle in sound settings is a new addition to future Android software. This toggle is for mono audio which will make audio channels-both right and left-to play back at the same time using an active sound output.
Mono audio is usually used when listening to a single earbud. This makes a playing audio to be heard in half (in terms of sound quality and not with duration to clear that out).
More importantly, the mono playback option can be useful for those who have hearing problems. It could also be used for those who do not want stereo remastering in enhanced old songs.
Cancel Button in Download Manager's Notification
At one point or another, downloading stuff in the web might have brought one to hesitate from pursuing it for some reason. With Android N, Google has come up with a simple solution to the problem by putting an accessible cancel button in download manager's notification.
The usual download app gives users nothing on it aside from the progress of the download activity. The cancel button brings a new power to device users to terminate running downloads anytime. It may seem futile at first thought, but it would definitely gain respect later on.
Currently with Marshmallow, download managers will only show a list of active downloads of history when clicking on it. Long tap has to be initiated for more actions, including delete option which can be synonymous to cancel button.
