Samsung Galaxy Note 5 under mobile carrier AT&T has been tipped to be updated to the official Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow on March 14. According to a report, the American mobile carrier is getting ready for the official release which will come in a couple of hours from now.
AT&T has been leaked gearing up for the official rollout of Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow over-the-air (OTA) on its Samsung Galaxy Note 5 units on March 14. The screenshot photos showed a chat conversation of an insider and tech site, Phone Arena, the carrier is currently wrapping up the test that has been running for quite some time already.
As expected, Galaxy Note 5 owners must be excited about this news as Marshmallow has long been overdue. Marshmallow was first released in October last year to Google Nexus phones.
Samsung offers Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow which heavily boasts on a number of customization options for the TouchWiz user interface (UI). TouchWiz UI goes up a fewer notches from its simpler Android-painted look.
Accordingly, the heavy changes on TouchWiz UI forced mobile carriers to run more tests than the usual to ensure best quality interface in compliance to regulations and standards. Phone Arena pointed this out to be the primary reason why Samsung took six months to come up with a redesigned interface. Marshmallow on Samsung also comes with an updated browser with security modes on top of the new features to include Doze, a redesigned app drawer, app links, Android Pay, fingerprint support, app permissions, and a lot more.
Last week, Verizon Wireless was unexpectedly the first carrier to release the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow to Galaxy Note 5. T-Mobile is still in manufacturer development, while US Cellular and Sprint have not yet revealed a bit of information about the update.
Software updates come in stages over-the-air which means not all phones will be updated at the same time.
