Samsung Galaxy S3 I9300 Up for Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow: Update Guide

Samsung Galaxy S3 is the latest device to receive support for Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow upgrade using the Omni ROM. Omni ROM offers Samsung's 2013 flagship smartphone with native tweaks and enhancements that will complement the device settings.

Samsung Galaxy S3 with model number I9300 can now be updated with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow via the Omi ROM. Galaxy S3 is the latest smartphone to receive support from the ROM for Android 6.0.1, following Galaxy Note 2 N7100.

Omni ROM comes with its standard features and a good number of surprises and tweaks that will make Galaxy S3 an impressive device again. Also, it is fast, smooth and stable.

Before proceeding with the installation of the ROM, take note of the following reminders and prerequisites:

1. Do not use the ROM to any other device.

2. Install TWRP Recovery here.

3. Back up all necessary data here.

4. Download a USB driver here.

To install Android 6.0.1 Omni ROM to Samsung Galaxy S3 i9300, below is the step-by-step guide:

1. Download Android 6.0.1 OmniROM on PC.

2. Connect phone to PC using a USB cable.

3. Copy downloaded zip files from PC then paste to phone's memory or SD card.

4. Switch off device and plug it out from the PC.

5. Go to Recovery Mode by simultaneously press holding volume up, home and down and power buttons.

6. Once in ClockWork Recovery, choose 'wipe data/factory reset'.

7. Choose 'wipe cache partition'.

8. Choose 'wipe cache/dalvik' to protect phone when it gets into any boot loops or other troubles.

9. Go to main menu and choose 'Install zip from SD card.'

10. Select 'Choose zip from SD card.'

11. Wait for the installation to complete.

12. Choose 'Reboot System'.

Go to Settings > About phone to check for the new software version.
