HTC One M10 to launch on April 19 in three models with a "compelling" camera

The HTC One M10 was previously rumored to have its first appearance during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2016, but this did not materialize. Now, the upcoming handset from HTC is anticipated to launch on April 19 in three models armed with a compelling camera.

According to Neurogadget, a recent teaser image on HTC's Facebook page revealed that a new device is in the works. Most probably this is the much-anticipated One M10 as the image had hash tag #powerof10. This provoked numerous reactions from tech enthusiasts and HTC patrons with speculations of a soon-to-come announcement of the handset.

Recently, HTC's Chief Financial Officer Chialin Chang stated that the company's next flagship would have what he termed as a "compelling" camera. Other reports have also surfaced stating that the next model of the One M series will debut in three variants. Currently, no official communication regarding the purported HTC flagship has been relayed but reliable sources have given hints regarding the specs, release dates, features of the HTC One M10.

When it comes with the design, Alphr noted that HTC One M10 appears more like the A9, removing the traditional front-facing BoomSound speakers previous M-series phones have had. This handset also has a fingerprint reader on the front and support for a USB Type-C connection.

There were also rumors suggesting that the HTC One M10 is likely to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chip: a quad-core number that will top Qualcomm's range when it's released. Although, a tipster named LlabTooFer suggests the handset could come in two variants: the 820 powered one for Europe and America, and an MTK-based version for Chinese and South East Asian market.

The One M10's processor is expected to be coupled with a 4GB of RAM, which will be required to power the 5.2in 1,440 x 2,560 display. There are also talks stating that this device will be featuring a 4K display with 4,096 x 2,160 resolution screen, but this is not likely to happen as current models are stuck in 1080p. The HTC One M10 is also predicted to have an internal memory of 64 or 128GB and it will be backed up with a microSD slot. It could be waterproof, be powered by a 3500mAh battery, armed with a 12-Ultrapixel camera and run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow as it comes out of the box.

As for the color variants, International Business Times stated that a leak showed all the renders with black front. But recently, another image has surfaced showing both white and black front panels. It was also speculated that HTC is planning to release a gold variant of the HTC One M10. The render shows a pale gold hue on the back and sides of the device with a white front.

Based on the anticipated specs of the HTC One M10, this device is most likely to cost just like the other high end phones available - around US$700. Nevertheless, this information is not yet confirmed by HTC, but concrete details are expected to arrive as the device's launch nears.
