The HTC 10 also known as HTC One M10 has been in the rumor mill for months now and while previous speculations claim it will have a Windows 10 variant, fresh reports say otherwise. The upcoming flagship handset of HTC won't be having the Microsoft's mobile OS.
According to Tech Times, it was last month when rumors have spread suggesting that HTC could be having its own Windows 10 Mobile-powered handset. It was reported that Microsoft considers HTC as one of the third-party phone device partners. This indicates that the American multinational company is looking for its Director of Account Management in Taipei, Taiwan, in which HTC is based. The director will also be tasked to work with HTC in creating new Windows 10 Mobile products, most importantly in leading all aspects of sales and business development interaction with HTC.
But this speculation was put to an end as Evan Blass, a reliable Twitter leaker, firmly stated that there won't be a Windows 10 Mobile version of the HTC 10. He says a resounding no when he was asked by a few Twitter users if the HTC 10 is going to run Windows 10 Mobile or if the 10 in its moniker HTC 10 refers to the Windows mobile operating system. With this, it seems that HTC hasn't given up on Android for its handsets.
HTC was noted to have unveiled the One M8 smartphone in 2014 in 2 variants - Android and Windows Phone. Tampa Bay Review stated that the Windows Phone HTC One M8 is the actual Android phone in the specifications and hardware, except that it was powered by the Microsoft's software. In addition, when HTC launched the HTC One M9, the company didn't launch the Windows Phone variant of this device making it somewhat possible that this trend would continue this year.
Aside from the absence of HTC 10 Windows 10 variant, International Business Times cited some of the features and specs of the upcoming HTC handset. This device is predicted to have a physical button that will house a fingerprint scanner. It also appears to be similar with the HTC One A9 budget phone. The HTC 10 is rumored to feature a 12-megapixel UltraPixel camera on its rear side that will be paired with a dual-LED flash along with features like laser autofocus and OIS.
The HTC 10 is speculated to arrive with a 5.2-inch display that would be carrying support for 2560 x 1440 pixels. This device is also predicted to be engineered with a Snapdragon 820 chipset and a 4 GB of RAM. The native storage of the HTC 10 will be of 32 GB and it will come pre-installed with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS and HTC Sense 8 UI. It will also be equipped with a USB Type-C port.
HTC 10 is expected to make its first appearance on April 19.
