Marvel's mystical hero, Doctor Strange is currently underway with filming. As the project advances to its November release date and director Scott Derrickson in the director's chair, many are curious whether the upcoming movie will also include a touch of horror as what the director is famous for.
Scott Derrickson is famous for his horror movie masterpieces like The Exorcism of Emily Rose and Sinister, which led many to speculate that the upcoming Marvel flick could also feature a touch of horror as well. However, as reported by Movie News Guide, Marvel President Kevin Feige stated otherwise.
Feige said that fans can refer to Derrickson's past works to get an idea on about his approach for Doctor Strange. "I would say you can certainly look at the past work of the filmmakers we hire as a bit of an indication for the tone of the movie.", Feige said.
But he also clarified that Derrickson's experiences in directing horror movies do not limit him to the genre, but rather an evidence of his talent in the field , "It means he is a talented filmmaker", Feige added.
The film will feature star-studded cast with Benedict Cumberbatch on board for the titular role, Tilda Swinton as the Ancient One, Benedict Wong as Wong, as well as Rachel McAdams and Mads Mikkelsen in currently unconfirmed characters.
As reported by Screen Rant, Chiwetel Ejiofor is also in as the villainous Baron Mordo and recently shared his enthusiasm on the role. "I think he's a fascinating charterer...I think even in the original framework of that character I think it's very fascinating. And sort of fleshing that out and giving that a kind of real 3 dimensional quality has been exciting and I think that even within the scope and the technical and visual skill of the Marvel universe I think that this is something unique. I'm excited for people to see it", Ejiofor stated.
Most recent set photos were taken from London where a fan took a video of Ejiofor's Baron Mordo and Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange. According to Comic Book Movie, the video appears to show Ejiofor and Cumberbatch in costume coming to the rescue of Benedict Wong.
Doctor Strange centers on the arrogant Dr. Stephen Strange who turns as he finds cure for his hands that were destroyed during a fatal car crash. The film is written by C. Robert Cargill, Thomas Dean Donnelly, Joshua Oppenheimer, and Jon Spaihts. It is set to hit theaters on November 04, 2016.
