Apple iPhones will soon be unhackable, tougher security features underway

By

Apple engineers are now working to develop new security features that bar anyone from unlocking their iPhones. This move will go against the government's plan to access information from their customers' smartphones.

According to New York Times, if Apple will be able to upgrade its security features on its smartphones, this will create a technical challenge for the law enforcement agencies. The new update on the security feature will further secure customers' information from being accessed by anyone including the government.

Experts say that if law enforcers want to access any iPhone in the future, it might need to find new ways of doing it. The recent move to upgrade the security features of the iPhone came after former government surveillance contractor Edward Snowden released classified information to the National Security Agency which was used as a loophole by the authority to access the user's information, as reported by The Washington Examiner.

This action by Apple was also triggered by the Obama's administration's effort on passing a law that enables the government to access one of their iPhones. This is in relation to the information wanted by the government that is stored on the phone of one of the terrorists in the San Bernardino California attacks.

Director James Comey of the FBI said in an interview that they are not looking for a key to unlock all iPhones but only an assistance with regards to the case. According to Chicago Tribune Will Ackerly, Chief technology officer at Virtru said that it is a very dangerous proposition to claim that this capability could not be reused.

According to experts, the government will definitely have a hard time convincing Apple to do what they want and the only way to do it is if the Congress will get involved. The Federal wiretapping law requires traditional phone manufacturers to make their data accessible for government's disposal. But tech giants like Google and Apple are not listed as part of the law. These companies have resisted the same law requirements to be imposed on them.
