'X-Men: Apocalypse' is an upcoming installment in the 'X-Men' cinematic series directed by Simon Kinberg. Actress Sophie Turner said that her version of the Jean Grey will be young, insecure and different. She also admitted that she always wanted to play a Marvel superhero.

According to Polygon, Sophie Turner is set to portray a young Jean Grey, a character popularized in the original 'X-Men' films by Famke Jansen. The 20-year old actress revealed that her reimagining will be much different from that of Jansen's. She said, "She's young and isolate and so insecure and very isolated - even from the other mutants - because she's so powerful... So there's a real vulnerability to her."

In the original Marvel comic books, Jean Grey a.ka. White Phoenix is an Omega Level Mutant, known to be one of the most powerful mutants in the X-Men franchise.

Initially, her powers were purely restricted to telekinesis but were eventually harnessed to an immense degree that she gained the abilities to cross interstellar distances, travel through space as well as manifest flames. In addition to telekinesis, she has powers of telepathy, teleportation and excels in astral combat.

According to Digital Spy, Turner hinted that the upcoming film will follow young Jean Grey's struggle with her powers as well as the difficulty of being a teenager holding secrets. She said, "My Jean is definitely struggling with her powers, and coming to terms with just how powerful she can be... Being a mutant ain't easy."

Turner is best known for her role as Sansa Stark in HBO's popular television show 'Game of Thrones', where she was catapulted to international fame. Her portrayal as Winterfell's beautiful yet wounded heir in the long-running series earned her nominations for multiple accolades. In 2015, she won and Empire Hero Award for her work.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the Hollywood beauty admitted that she had always wanted to play a Marvel superhero a few months before she was cast as Jean Grey for 'X-Men: Apocalypse'.

She said, "I think it would be really cool to do like a Marvel project with superheroes, because that's so far from what I've done so far. But I don't have a particular role or particular person I would like to play. It's not like the roles I've had aren't dream roles, but I don't have one I'm after. But a superhero would be fun."

'X-Men: Apocalypse' is an upcoming superhero film directed by Bryan Singer based on the screenplay by Simon Kinberg. It is scheduled to be released on May 27, 2016. It is part of the 'X-Men' shared cinematic universe and follows 2014's 'X-Men: Days of Future Past' that starred James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart.
