Doctor Strange: Filming features bloody Benedict Cumberbatch; Chiwetel Ejiofor discusses why he said yes to play Baron Mordo

After the successful Captain America Civil War, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is to further expand and expose its mystical side with Doctor Strange. New set photos reveal a bloody Benedict Cumberbatch, while Chiwetel Ejiofor revealed why he came on board for the project.

Filming is currently underway for the project in London, and as reported by The Independent, fan-taken videos and photos have surfaced online. Cumberbatch's Stephen Strange and Ejiofor's Baron Mordo were captured in a video as they film a scene where they rescue from in front of a building.

Another photo also surfaced showing Cumberbatch wearing Doctor Strange's dark blue suit and red cape as blood trickles down his face. He is set to play alongsideTilda Swinton who will play as the Ancient One, as well as Mads Mikkelsen, Scott Adkins and Rachel Addams inn currently undisclosed characters.

Chiwetel Ejiofor is on board as well to play the character of Baron Mordo. According to IGN, Ejiofor revealed that the Marvel Cinematic Universe was what urged him to join the film. "The extraordinary technical and visual achievements that Marvel have done at this point... are amazing", Ejiofor stated.

"I think that [Doctor Strange] also has this really unique place - it's much more of a fantastical world, and I think it's going to have a very stunning visual style and great characters.", he added. The upcoming movie also received support from Ejiofor's Triple 9 co-star Anthony Mackie who plays the role of Falcon in the MCU.

"Doctor Strange, just from the artwork that I have seen, it's gonna be so different, so far out and so creatively stimulating that's going to blow everything out of the water", Mackie said as reported by CinemaBlend.

Doctor Strange will center on an arrogant surgeon Stephen Strange who will seek for the aid of magic to heal his hands after a horrible accident. He trains under the Ancient One and becomes the defender of the Earth from mystic enemies.

Aside from the teasing remarks from the cast, Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson also said previously that there will be a lot of "crazy sh*t" that fans should look out for. Doctor Strange will appear in cinemas on November 04.
