Ridley Scott's upcoming sequel to Prometheus, titled Alien: Covenant has added a new actor to its star-studded case. Oscar-nominated actor Demian Bichir has been confirmed for a currently unknown role and is set to play alongside Michael Fassbender's David.
As reported by Deadline, Bichir has been confirmed to be the latest addition to the cast. Bichir was last seen in Quentin Tarantino's The Hateful Eight but will shift from the post-Civil War setting to a space adventure in Scott's upcoming Alien: Covenant.
Bichir will be joined by Michael Fassbender who will return as the Android David, the sole survivor of the Prometheus. According to CinemaBlend, newcomers Danny McBride and Katherine Waterston who will play the role of Daniels who will be the lead character in film.
Noomi Rapace, who played the role of Dr. Elizabeth Shaw was confirmed not to return in the upcoming film. The details of the character's exclusion in the next feature is unknown, although, being a human who needs food and water to survive, rumors suggest that she may not have survived her situation in space.
Although director Ridley Scott previously stated that the Xenomorphs will not play a significant part in the upcoming flick, Inquisitr reported that the renowned director has shifted his opinions on the extraterrestrial creatures and revealed that the film will in fact discuss the Xenomorphs' origins.
Set 10 years after the events of "Prometheus", the upcoming feature will center on a colony ship called "Covenant" that will find a new paradise. "Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world -- whose sole inhabitant is the "synthetic" David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition", the synopsis stated.
Ridley Scott is set to direct Alien: Covenant with screenplay by Michael Green, John Logan, and Jack Paglen. It is set to be released in theaters in October 06, 2017.
