If it isn't already clear, "Captain America: Civil War" will be the biggest, most explosive movie feast for 2016. An incident mounts political pressure on The Avengers and divides them into two warring factions led by Captain America on one side and Iron Man in the other. Being the massive blockbuster it is poised to become, "Civil War" will showcase a lot of the characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), including familiar faces and new ones.
The Wrap reported that Gwyneth Paltrow will appear as Pepper Potts in "Captain America: Civil War." There are speculations that while Pepper Potts is only a minor figure in the supersized production, her appearance will be an essential part of the film.
"The Hobbit" actor Martin Freeman will also participate in "Civil War" as government agent Everett Ross. In the Marvel comic books, Ross works for the U.S. State Department and is linked to Black Panther. The Wakanda-born superhero will also appear in "Captain America: Civil War," fighting alongside Iron Man. Everett Ross' introduction in "Civil War" is expected to pave the way for his broader role in the "Black Panther" movie, due out on Jul. 6, 2018.
Freeman's role in the movie was made known through the recent "Captain America: Civil War" movie stills released by Empire.
Although he has not made an appearance in any of the trailers and promotional materials for "Civil War," there's a good chance The Hulk will also take part in the superhero film.
In an interview with Radio One, Anthony Mackie, who plays Falcon, slipped that Mark Ruffalo may have joined the rest of the "Captain America: Civil War" cast during filming.
"Because it's more of an acting movie than an action movie, I feel like the story is very concise and interesting, and you get to see Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans and Scarlett Johannson and Mark Ruffalo and everybody just do really, really good acting. And then there's action in it," Mackie said when asked about "Civil War," as noted by the Independent.
Marvel previously announced that The Hulk's next appearance would be in "Thor: Ragnarok," leaving no mention of him joining the superhero lineup in "Civil War."
"Captain America: Civil War" marks the conclusion of Phase Two of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The movie is set a year after the Avengers defeated Ultron, coursing through the passage of the Sokovia Accords and the superhuman registration law. This new conflict pits heroes against heroes, and will inflict critical consequences on the entire MCU.
