LG G4 phones under Verizon Wireless along with two other devices have just been officially updated to Android 6.0 Marshmallow since last February 16. Verizon Wireless surprisingly makes Wi-Fi calling enabled on the device on top of Marshmallow features.
Verizon Wireless completely knew a thing or two about making up and throwing out huge surprises as its LG G4 phones received the official Android 6.0 Marshmallow update with Wi-Fi calling. This feature enables device owners to make and receive calls over a Wi-Fi network if mobile service is not accessible. This way, owners can save mobile data.
As explained by the carrier itself, Verizon guaranteed that Wi-Fi calling will exclude additional charge with G3's existing device plan. It operates by using the owners' mobile numbers. Calling is totally free of charge to both US numbers and travels roaming outside the country.
To activate Wi-Fi calling, go to Settings > Advanced Calling > Activate Advanced Calling. Once ready, HD Voice can be turned on from the same settings of the feature.
Android 6.0 Marshmallow on LG G3 has the software version VS98624C. Aside from LG G3, Verizon also released the same update on the same day to its LG G4 and HTC One M9 units.
The carrier promised to give G3 owners optimizations for device's performance, fixes to known issues, and improvements to user experience.
Marshmallow also comes with Now on Tap. It works by pulling up pertinent recommendation in cards. Now on Tap's recommendations are based on the user's interest which can go up to anything under the sun.
Doze mode is one impressive addition. It helps device owners controls the consumption of power, especially when device is not in use.
Runtime permissions is another awesome feature as it basically helps device owners protect their privacy by requesting permissions first before anyone can use a certain feature on the device.
