Verizon Pulls Android 6.0 Marshmallow Live Update to Motorola Droid Turbo 2; Withdrawal Causes Confusion among Owners

By

Owners of Verizon's Droid Turbo 2 phones have been disappointed by the sudden withdrawal of the official Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to the device a few hours after it was released. This bizarre action of the carrier brought confusion among Droid Turbo 2 owners.

Motorola Droid Turbo 2 phones were supposed to begin receiving the official Android 6.0 Marshmallow update last February 12. Verizon Wireless, the sole distributor of the 2015 phone, pulled out the release of Marshmallow update to the device for unknown reasons. Until now, the mobile carrier has not spoken about the real score behind this strange withdrawal of software update.

Tech site Droid Life was able to report first the Marshmallow release on the same date. However, in its current update, it too was confused after knowing that Verizon took down the web page it sourced out for the said update without posting any details of the said happening.

On its website, Droid Lie's report on the said update brought a long haul of discussion among confused Droid Turbo 2 owners. According to one commenter named Noalson, his device says it is up-to-date after checking the system update. Marshmallow on Droid Turbo 2 should have build number 24.14.9.

On one note, another commenter said that Verizon took back the Marshmallow update release perhaps because a bug was found while it was being rolled out. This argument may sound cautious to prevent infestation of vulnerabilities; however, it could also be a slap on Verizon's face for letting out an update without taking too much caution beforehand. Both Motorola and Verizon Wireless remained silent about the controversy as of now.

Last week, Motorola had already been reported to be determined to push out the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to Droid Turbo 2 units hugely because of the persistent appearance of a green line on the device's screen.

Marshmallow will be released anytime soon with Moto Display feature ditching Ambient Display. Meanwhile, Moto Assist has a few more functions and Moto Actions was integrated with Attentive Display.
