‘Kingsman 2’ Updates: Julianne Moore boards sequel as new antagonist; Taron Egerton praises script, teases 'more international' plot

After the success of spy film, "Kingsman: The Secret Service", fans are looking forward to seeing more action from Eggsy in its sequel, "Kingsman 2" and this is likely to happen with a new vilain in the form of Academy Award winner actress Julianne Moore. Meanwhile, lead actor Taron Egerton has revealed a few details about the script and plot of the highly anticipated sequel.

"Kingsman 2" may happen with Julianne Moore as the villain, according to Hollywood Reporter. The Academy Award winner is currently in negotiations to board the R-rated franchise whose first film became a surprise success with $400 million in ticket sales. Director Matthew Vaughn has sealed Moore to star against Taron Egerton in "Kingsman 2" since lots of characters won't be returning anymore. Although there are no specific details regarding Moore's character, rports claim the action is expected to expand in locale.

Moreover, Taron Egerton, who played Eggsy in the film, has revealed that he found the script of the sequel brilliant. According to Just Jared, the actor said in an interview that they'll be shooting in the summer, adding "there's a script, it's brilliant." He even revealed that they're going international this time as they're looking for more incredible scenes. The Welsh actor also teased the new antagonist to rival Samuel L. Jackson.

Meanwhile, Screen Crush said that option to consider Colin Firth's character to return from the dead has been abandoned by the studio. Returning cast would unfortunately only involve Taron Egerton as the protagonist, although fans can also expect Mark Strong in the sequel. Further, Sophie Cookson and Jack Davenport, the two candidates for Lancelot positions, are also being considered to reprise their roles.

"Kingsman: The Secret Service" was notable for being a surprise blockbuster hit which premiered on February 2015. It's upcoming and yet-to-be-named sequel "Kingsman 2" will start shooting this summer for a June 16, 2017 release date.
