Final Fantasy 9 Now Available on Android, iOS Devices for $17; Price to Go Up after Feb 21

Square Enix released Final Fantasy 9 for mobile devices and Android as well as Apple iOS users can now download the game for $17 on the Google Play Store and App store, respectively. But gamers need to hurry as the $17 price tag will go up.

According to PC Gamer, the $17 price tag will go up by 20% after the 21st of February. PC Gamer said that the initial price is still too steep but it should be noted that there are no in-app purchases or any in-game monetization because gamers will get the full game when bought.

Engadget pointed out that Final Fantasy 9 is the franchise's high point during the PlayStation 1 era. Engadget continued that whether a player agrees with this or not, everyone can agree that the 9th installment of the series is still worth playing or re-playing.

The full game will have HD movies and updated graphics. The game will also have autosave which is always handy when playing on mobile. Entertainment weekly reports that the game will have proper touch controls and updated character models.

It can be remembered that North America got the first taste of Final Fantasy during the NES era in the late 80's. Square then decided not to localize the NES Final Fantasy 2j and Final Fantasy 3j. Thus, the SNES Final Fantasy 4 was named Final Fantasy 2 in North America and Final Fantasy 6 into Final Fantasy Fantasy 3. Square decided not to localize the SNES Final Fantasy 5 during that time because they believed the game was too difficult for the American audience.

Final Fantasy 9 for Android will require Android 4.1 or later, 4GB of memory, and at least 8GB storage. The iOS version will require any iOS device with iOS 7.1 or later. The game will be released on Steam this 2016 as well but no definite date was announced just yet.
