Star Citizen coming this 2016; Cloud Imperium Games reveals what inspires them to create new title

By

Star Citizen Head of Development Chris Roberts answers 10 interesting fan questions about the game. Roberts, who led one of the biggest crowd funded game development efforts on Kickstarter, started this Q&A session called "10 for the Chairman."

According to Gamespot, Roberts admitted that Star Citizen was partially inspired by the famous Activision-Blizzard MMORPG World of Warcraft (WoW).

In the same article, he said that WoW didn't feel real or alive enough and that the there is not much to do in between expansion packs. This prompted him to design Star Citizen to be a game that feels fresh, new, and alive.

Aside from WoW, Roberts points to Eve Online as another inspiration. He said that the emergent gameplay and persistence of Eve Online will be present in Star Citizen.

In addition, the development head also cited Demon Souls as another inspiration. He said that his game will be very rewarding and players will really feel that they accomplished something when playing the game.

That said, the development studio is not without their controversies. Forbes said there were times in their coverage of the game that they heard from former and current employees of the development studio accusations of money mismanagement and a shaky workplace.

The 10 for the Chairman Q&A show was conceived by Cloud Imperium to be transparent towards their backers and fans. On February 1, Cloud Imperium opened up the game not just to their backers, but to everyone who are interested.

The "free fly" event held on the first of February allowed gamers to play the Crusader module and the Arena Commander module.

IGN reported that Star Citizen does not have a specific release date as of now. However, Cloud Imperium will focus on VR for the game this year.

Star Citizen is a space trading and combat simulator game. The game is will be released this 2016 on the Microsoft Winodws PC platform and Linux.
