Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire Offers 11 Legendary Pokemons Throughout 2016; Mew Still Free Until May 31st

Nintendo is pushing for more free content for Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire in celebration of the fracnhise's 20th year. The promotion will give gamers the opportunity to get 11 Pokemons spread over 11 months.

Latin Times reported that the free content is not limited to Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. Pokemon X and Y owners will also have the opportunity to get these 11 mythical Pokemons. The first Mythical Pokemon is Mew, a Legendary psychic Pokemon that became an iconic character during the release of the very popular Pokemon Red and Blue.

According to GameSpot Mew will start at level 100. In fact, all free Pokemons will start at level 100. Gamers will be able to get Mew by simply acquiring a promo code from GameStop. The code for Mew is valid up to May 31st of this year.

Within the Nintendo 3DS device choose Mystery Gift > Receive Gift > Get With Code > and enter the code. When that is done, gamers should visit the nearest Poke Center to add the new Pokemon in the list of active team members.

The complete list is available in the official Pokemon 20th Anniversary page. In March Celebi will be given away, Jirachi in April, and Darkrai in May.

Pokemon debuted in 1995 for the original black and white Gameboy brick. The game was developed by the then unknown Gamefreak studio and was published by Nintendo. The franchise is an instant hit for the hand-held and in 2014 it hit the $2 billion mark in retail sales. The game series sales is about $30 million short of $300 million.

Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire along with Pokemon X/Y are exclusive for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems. The games Ruby and Sapphire particularly was released in 2014 and is again developed by Gamefreak. Ruby and Sapphire are remakes of the popular 2002 Gameboy Advance games.
