Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros' upcoming Kong: Skull Island is finally underway, and actors Tom Hiddleston and Corey Hawkins have revealed bits of details on what to expect from the project. A new rumor also suggest the possible setting of the film.
Filming is currently underway for the upcoming film, and without revealing details about the film, Straight Outta Compton star Corey Hawkins revealed in an interview that the star-studded cast with Samuel Jackson, John C. Reilly, John Goodman, Brie Larson, Tom Hiddleston and many others is one of the aspects to watch out for.
As reported by Comic Book Move, Hawkins also commented about the movie saying that it will "take you back to sort of old filmmaking era" as they are currently filming in different locations and it is expected to be a "wild, wild ride".
Moreover, while promoting for Crimson Peak last year, Hiddleston mentioned that the film will be a fresh interpretation of King Kong's myth. As reported by Youth Health Magazine, Hiddleston added that the giant ape, will also come across characters who can relate to him.
"The power of the original story is still the same-there's something extraordinary about Kong as a metaphor-but we place him in a new environment with different kinds of characters who relate to him in very distinct ways", Hiddleston said.
Furthermore, according to Hollywood Elsewhere, latest plot speculations about the project indicate that Kong: Skull Island will be set in the early 70's and will include a "Vietnam-era" vibe to its theme as parts of the movie will also be shot in Vietnam.
Kong: Skull Island is under the direction of Jordan Vogt-Roberts, and written by Max Borenstein, Derek Connelly, John Gatins, and Dan Gilroy. It also stars Brie Larsson, Corey Hawkins, Toby Kebbell and Jason Mitchell. It is set to hit theaters on March 10, 2017.
