'The Magnificent Seven' is an upcoming American Western-crime film, a remake of the 1960 Western film of the same name. Ethan Hawke revealed that he enjoyed filming the remake with director Antoine Fuqua and the rest of the cast. Matt Bomer joins the new cast and makes a transition from television to the movies.
According to Female First, Ethan Hawke is set to star in Antoine Fuqua's remake of the classic Western film from the 1960s based on Akira Kurosawa's Japanese-language film 'Seven Samurai'. Principal photography is currently underway with the film being Fuqua's first film since his sports drama film 'Southpaw' starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Rachel McAdams and Forest Whitaker.
Hawke revealed that he enjoyed filming the reboot with the rest of the cast and crew. He said, "It was awesome. It was fantastic to be on the set again with Denzel (Washington) and Antoine (Fuqua) and then to have the situation be so different. We weren't making a sequel to Training Day. We were in the middle of the desert riding around on some horses." Washington was his co-star on Fuqua's crime-thriller film 'Training Day'.
The 45-year old actor admitted that he had a worthwhile experience, calling it an "adventure". He said, "Some movies are work, and some movies are all about acting and character, but this was about learning to ride a horse and shoot a six-gun at the same time. I really enjoyed it."
Fuqua took the cast and crew to Louisiana and New Mexico for filming, according to Collider. Principal photography took place from March 18 to August 18, 2015.
Hawke and Washington are joined by Chris Pratt, Vincent D'Onofrio, Lee Byung-Hun, Manuel Garcia Rulfo, Martin Sensmeier, Haley Bennett, Peter Sarsgaard, Luke Grimes, Vinnie Jones, Cam Gigandet, Sea Bridgers and Matt Bomer.
Bomer gained popularity with his roles in various television series including 'Tru Calling', 'Chuck', 'White Collar' and 'American Horror Story: Hotel'. He went on to appear in full-feature films such as 'In Time', 'Winter's Tale', 'Flightplan' and the 'Magic Mike' series.
According to Coming Soon, the 38-year old actor will play Bennett's on-screen husband. The film is reportedly set in a mining town oppressed by a local gold baron and will follow seven gunslingers hired to defend it.
