‘Kill Bill Vol. 3’: Quentin Tarantino suggests own “movie universe”; Director discusses a possible 1930s setting

'Kill Bill Vol. 3' is a planned martial arts film intended as the third installment in the 'Kill Bill' series created and directed by Quentin Tarantino. The director suggested that he has his own "movie universe" and that he plans to make a film about outlaws in 1930s Australia.

According to WWD, Tarantino neither confirmed nor denied the possibility of a third installment in his popular 'Kill Bill' series starring Uma Thurman as The Bride. The filmmaker said, "I'm not committing to it, but I wouldn't be surprised if The Bride made one more appearance before the whole thing is said and done....I am talking to Uma about it just a little bit. Some of the stuff that I'd written that never made it into the movie that maybe I could use."

The 52-year old writer, director, producer and actor recently released his American Western mystery film 'The Hateful Eight' in December 25, 2015 in the United States. It starred an ensemble cast including Samuel L. Jackson, Kurt Russell and Jennifer Jason Leigh and was set some time after the American Civil War. It received generally positive reviews from critics.

Tarantino is well known for his genre-bending films characterized by satirical subject matter, violence, ensemble casts, pop culture references and non-linear storylines. Most of his films have become cult favorites through the years. These include 'Reservoir Dogs', 'Pulp Fiction', 'Grindhouse', 'Inglorious Basterds', 'Django Unchained' and the 'Kill Bill' series.

According to Fanbolt, Tarantino referred to his group of films as part of a movie universe. He said, "There's the realer than real universe, all right, and all the characters inhabit that one... But then there's this movie universe - and so From Dusk Till Dawn, Kill Bill, they all take place in this special 'movie' universe... So basically when the characters of Reservoir Dogs or Pulp Fiction, when they go to the movies... Kill Bill is what they go see. From Dusk Till Dawn is what they go see."

He also revealed that he was interested in creating a film set in the 1930s. According to The Celebrity Café, Tarantino said that he gets inspired with a possible movie concept every time he visits Australia. He admitted, "I do have an idea for an Australian film that would take place in the '30s... It would be like a Bonnie and Clyde-ish kind of story with a couple of outlaws in Australia."

For the meantime, he is working on a state play adaptation for 'The Hateful Eight'. It was also reported that Tarantino plans to write stage plays and novels on retirement from the filmmaking business.

'Kill Bill Vol. 3' is a planned third installment in the 'Kill Bill' series created and directed by Quentin Tarantino. No confirmation of the film's development has been confirmed as of the present.
