A SIXPERIENCE custom ROM unofficially brings Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow to the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. The 6.0.1 Marshmallow update is expected to hit the Verizon Galaxy Note 4 this month.

Users of the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge with build number G925F can flash the SIXPERIENCE custom ROM to get a taste of the latest Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update. According to WCCF Tech, the SIXPERIENCE custom ROM can be installed on Galaxy S6 Edge devices with build number G925F only. Users can manually check for the model number of their devices in the About Device tab found in the Settings menu.

The SIXPERIENCE unofficial ROM based on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow is described as "prerooted, zipaligned, deodexed, deknoxed, and light debloated." It also contains official stock apps and frameworks for the Galaxy S6 Edge variant. A recovery tool is needed to first root and unlock the device prior installation. It is recommended that the user should first back up important data since the custom ROM will perform a complete wipe when installed.

Meanwhile, Neurogadget reported that Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge phones in South Korea have begun getting the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update. The report stated that the 6.0.1 update will hit other devices all over the world.

Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow has also come to T-Mobile's LG G4 units, to be followed by other carriers like Verizon and AT&T. Among the first carriers to release the latest Android Marshmallow update to the LG G4 in Canada are Bell, Rogers, and Telus.

Previously, Lawyer Herald stated that Samsung's Galaxy Note 4 under Verizon is slated to receive Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow on February 2016. The update is said to offer new emojis, security patches, bug fixes, and a feature that allows writing notes during sleep mode using the S pen.

Samsung is said to be testing the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update on its devices. The company is expected to announce an official worldwide release of the update as soon as tests are successful.
