Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow Update Roundup: Google Nexus, Samsung Galaxy, HTC, Sony Xperia, Xiaomi devices slated to receive update

Google has released the latest Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow monthly update on February 1. Nexus, Samsung Galaxy, HTC, Sony Xperia, and Xiaomi devices have been approved to get the update.

GottaBeMobile reported that Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow has started rolling out to Nexus devices on February 1 as part of Google's monthly security update initiative. Google posted the changelog and factory images of Android 6.0.1 on the Nexus security bulletin.

Nexus devices that are slated to receive Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow are the Nexus 5, 5X, 6, 6P, Nexus 7 (2013), and Nexus 9. The update is also expected to come to the non-Nexus Google Pixel C tablet. Meanwhile, the Nexus 10 tablet will get a more secure Android 5.1.1 Lollipop version.

Over-the-air (OTA) updates are expected to arrive on these devices as Google starts the roll out. Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow is considered a minor update but contains important security patches for critical vulnerabilities.

Samsung Galaxy owners can also anticipate receiving Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. International Business Times said that Samsung has begun rolling out the update to the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge in South Korea. Update release for Samsung Galaxy devices in other regions will likely follow. T-Mobile previously announced that it will release the Marshmallow update to the S6, S6 Edge, and S6 Edge+.

Lawyer Herald earlier reported that the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 will get the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update tentatively this month. The monthly update will bring the screen-off memo feature of the Galaxy Note 5 to the Note 4. The Galaxy Note 5 is also expected to get the Marshmallow update.

Meanwhile, the HTC One A9 from Sprint is already receiving OTA updates for Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. The One M8 will get Android 6.0 Marshmallow as per Mo Versi, VP of Product Management at HTC.

Some Sony Xperia and Xiaomi devices have been approved to get upgraded to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. Xperia devices include the Xperia C4, Xperia C5 Ultra, Xperia Z5, Z5 Premium, Z5 Compact, Z3, Z3 Compact, Z3+, Z2, Xperia 2 Tablet, Xperia M4, M4 Aqua, M5, and Z4 Tablet. For Xiaomi, the Mi 4 was reported to have received the update already.

There are speculations that Google will release the next update, Android 6.1, on or before the I/O conference this year. Devices mentioned above should expect to get the 6.0.1 update in the following days.
