Samsung has already hinted that more of its smartphones and tablets will receive the official Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow very soon over the air (OTA). Although not present in Samsung's Marshmallow list, the 2015 mid-ranger Galaxy J7 is certainly heading towards the Marshmallow update in the second quarter of 2016.
Samsung Galaxy J7 is expected to be updated to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow in as early as April 2016. The software will come with host of new features and enhancements that originally came from the Marshmallow launcher, plus the updated set of emojis and security patches brought by the first update version of the build. Not to mention that Samsung will also be releasing with the upgrade all improvements for its TouchWiz user interface.
Despite the absence of Galaxy J7 on Samsung's Marshmallow list, many of unit owners are confident that the software upgrade is imminent since the phone was just released in June 2015. However, with the speculated release date coming in within the April to June time frame, major mobile operators in the United States like Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint have kept mum on the update. This is understood nevertheless as high-end phones are the priority devices of most brands.
As of now, the phone is reportedly in the lab for development. Testing shall follow through when development is approved. In this stage, certification will be done to ensure quality software performance. The final stage will be the approval to release the software to the device. However, units under mobile carriers will still wait for the operators' discretion as to when to roll out the new build.
Meanwhile, new models of Samsung Galaxy J7 were confirmed coming very soon as they passed Bluetooth SIG certification. Two models are reportedly to be launched-one will run an Exynos chip while the other Snapdragon.
Both units will run Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out of the box.
