'John Wick 2' is an upcoming action-thriller film directed by Chad Stahelski based on a screenplay by Derek Kolstad. Keanu Reeves is set to return as the titular assassin and is seen filming in Rome. Ruby Rose also revealed her training regime for her new part in the film.
According to the Daily Mail, Revees is seen in an unusually scruffy state during filming in Rome on the 1st of February. The 51-year old Hollywood star is set to return as the titular assassin in Chad Stahelski's sequel to the 2014 neo-noir action thriller film of the same name.
Reeves' John Wick is a hitman forced out of retirement after a group of foreign mobsters murdered his beagle and stole his vintage car. In addition to his plot at revenge, he is pursued by an old colleague and friend after a crime boss takes out a contract on his life. The first film was praised by critics for its visual and action sequences, as well as Reeves' performance as the lead protagonist.
Principal photography took place in New York since October and was moved to Italy in the recent weeks. According to Inverse, a series of photographs from the New York filming set were released previously showing Reeves in various action scenes with a trusty new dog by his side. He was also seen with several actors including 'Matrix' co-actor Laurence Fishburne.
Meanwhile, Ruby Rose of 'Orange is the New Black' fame is joining the new cast of characters and has been seen around Rome together with Reeves. The Australian model, recording artists and actress rose to prominence in television and venture out to more acting roles on the big screen. In addition to appearing on 'John Wick 2', she is also attached to upcoming films such as 'XXX: The Return of Xander Cage' and 'Resident Evil: The Final Chapter'.
According to Access Hollywood, Rose revealed that she was undergoing some intense physical training for her upcoming roles. The 29-year old posted a series of photographs on her personal Instagram account while she was working out at the gym. She captioned some of the collages, "Mattteeeee if I don't start looking like the hulk soon! ;)" and "Grinding for #Johnwick and #XXX ( Xander Cage not porn lol )".
She is reportedly doing weight lifting, suspension training and kickboxing. No further details of her role in 'John Wick 2' have been revealed as of the present.
