'War Machine' is an upcoming comedy-drama film written and directed by David Michod. It stars Brad Pitt as a commanding general of the U.S. Army stationed in Afghanistan. The actor is seen on the filming set in Paris with gray hair and clad in military fatigues.
According to Yahoo! News, Pitt is set to star as General Don McMahon in the upcoming satirical war film written and directed by David Michod. His character is inspired by the real-life General Stanley McChrystal, a former general of the United States Army who was credited with slaying Al-Qaeda leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi.
Pitt looked almost unrecognizable in a shock of grey hair and military camouflage during filming of a scene outside the Grand Hotel in Paris on January 31. According to the Daily Mail, the Oscar-nominated actor had to dye his hair a combination of gray and blonde and needed to get regular trimming for the part. For his role in the biographical comedy-drama 'The Big Short', Pitt sported longer hair and a full beard, which was dyed grey.
The film, scheduled to be released sometime in 2016, is made by Netflix and Pitt's own production company Plan B Entertainment. It is based on the 2012 novel 'The Operators: The Wild and Terrifying Inside Story of America's War in Afghanistan' authored by the late American journalist Michael Hastings, who traveled with Gen. McChrystal and his team in April 2010. The novel became a New York Times bestseller.
Pitt is set to produce 'War Machine' together with Ian Bryce, Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner. James W. Skotchdople is serving as executive producer. The film has been in production since August.
According to The Business Standard, the upcoming film will take the cast and crew on various filming locations around the world including Berlin, Abu Dhabi, London and Dunsfold Aerodane in Surrey. Pitt is joined by a large cast including Will Poulter, Emory Cohen, Topher Grace, Anthony Michael Hall, Alan Ruck, Keith Stanfield, John Magaro, Josh Stewart, RJ Cyler and Hopper Penn among others.
