Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OTA Update For Verizon's Samsung Galaxy E7 and Note 4 Now Rolling Out

By

While a lot of devices are enjoying the Android 6.0 Marshmallow upgrade, other smartphones are still waiting for the Lollipop 5.1.1 software. Fortunately for Verizon subscribers, the Android M predecessor has already started rolling out to its Samsung Galaxy E7 and Note 4.

According to Neurogadget, Samsung Galaxy E7 devices in Europe, Asia and US have started getting the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update. Upon updating to the latest Lollipop version, users can now experience improved UI animations, general system optimization, security enhancements and improvements to the camera software.

It can be remembered that the Galaxy E7 was released with Android 4.4.4 KitKat as it came out of the box. Samsung has preferred to skip all previous Lollipop versions (5.0, 5.0.2 and 5.1), upgrading it directly to version 5.1.1, which is 750 MB in size. This firmware update was already released last summer, particularly in August, for the users living in Russia and India. Just in case users haven't received a notification about the update, they can check it manually by going to Settings > About phone > Software updates > Check for update.

Additionally, Android Headlines reported that Verizon is also rolling out the Lollipop 5.1.1 to its Samsung Galaxy Note 4 handsets. The update will come as build LMY47X.N910VVRU2BOK3. Since there's no available information about the size, users of this smartphone are recommended to download the update over W-iFi as oppose to Verizon's 4G LTE network; unless they have unlimited data.

TechnoBuffalo cited the changes that the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update will bring to the Note 4 devices. The new firmware is slated to optimize the device performance and resolve known issues with latest security patches. This update also brings Android for Work, upgrades Samsung Knox, and removes the previously pre-installed Amazon App store and Amazon widgets.

While some users of Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy E7 are quite upset for not getting the Marshmallow update, Lollipop 5.1.1's arrival is still a good indication that these handsets will obtain Android 6.0 soon.
