Sony Xperia C4 handset owners who were expecting to receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update got disappointed recently after the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop firmware landed their smartphones instead of the latest OS.
According to Android Authority, the Sony Xperia C4 was one of the few devices which were expected to receive the Android M. However, the Sony smartphone has obtained the Android 5.1 Lollipop update. This may be somewhat disappointing to those of you who were already excited for Android 6.0 firmware, but at least it is visible that the Japanese tech company is moving forward and keeping the phone somewhat up-to-date.
The Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update has arrived to 5 out of the 6 versions of the C4; for some purpose model E5343 is currently excluded. It does apply to both the regular Xperia C4 and C4 Dual, coming in the form of build numbers 27.2.A.0.155 and 27.2.B.0.155, respectively.
Moreover, Christian Today added that the upgrade of Xperia C4 to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop is considered by Sony Mobile as a major update. Tech enthusiasts stated that since it would be an update-heavy file, users of the Xperia C4 are recommended to update their devices over Wi-Fi. Either they will be using an automatic OTA update or manually through the Sony PC Companion app. The OTA update can be checked manually by going to the Software Update option in the Settings > About Phone tab.
When it comes to the enhancements and improvements that the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update brings, NDTV Gadgets cited some. According to the site, the new version is expected to bring stability and performance developments to Xperia C4 handsets.
Google also added new features such as support for multiple SIM cards, Device Protection and HD voice on compatible devices. The built-in Device Protection will make sure the Xperia C4 smartphone is locked when lost or stolen until signed-in using a Google account. Other features included are the ability to join Wi-Fi networks and the direct availability of Bluetooth paired device option from Quick Settings.
Although it is quite disappointing that instead of the Marshmallow update, users of Sony Xperia C4 has obtained the Lollipop 5.1.1; this may be a good sign that the handset will receive the Android 6.0 firmware soon.
