Did the folks at the Nuremberg Toy Fair accidentally reveal top secret information about the villain in the highly-anticipated "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story"? As much as the production cast and crew would like to keep things under wraps months before the December 2016 "Rogue One" release date, all this secrecy just couldn't last forever.
At the Nuremberg Toy Fair held in Germany a bevy of new LEGO memorabilia was being presented, and a podcaster nicknamed StudShooter was on a roll covering the important details at the juncture, as noted by Hit Flix on Tuesday. Luckily for Star Wars fans, StudShooter also managed to spill the beans on a ring of new LEGO sets tied in with the "Rogue One" movie.
One of the items featured in the collection titled "Rogue I" bears some form of semblance to Bobba Fett's weird looking ship, the Slave I. Does this mean we'll be seeing the notorious bounty hunter in the upcoming "Star Wars" spin-off?
According to Empire on Wednesday, there has been a bounty of rumors regarding several other anthologies outside the numbered "Star Wars" films. After "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" hits theaters this year, another standalone flick is expected to come out in 2018 and is presumed to focus on Bobba Fett himself.
The timeline for "Rogue One" also makes it appropriate for a Bobba Fett appearance. During the period on which "Rogue One" is set, Bobba Fett is already a master in his field, having served as a bounty hunter for decades.
The guys behind Making Star Wars (MSW) have been doing a good job keeping fans in check with the latest updates on "Rogue One".
The upcoming "Star Wars" cast includes Felicity Jones, Forest Whitaker, Jiang Wen and Alan Tudyk, Cinema Blend reported.
More specifically, Whitaker will portray a one-legged character currently known as Eel Commander. Whitaker's role is reportedly connected to a network of bounty hunters who supposedly play an indispensable part in how the "Rogue One" storyline develops.
There's also speculation that Jiang Wen may appear as a bounty hunter who sympathizes with the Rebellion, with which some of the bounty hunters may spark an alliance to obtain the Death Star plans.
With the possibility of bounty hunters making a huge contribution to the storyline it would be safe to say that Bobba Fett may make an appearance, but perhaps not as the lead nemesis.
So fans are still in a slump as to who the real villain is, but MSW has this to say: the "bad guy" is someone who plays a pivotal role in the Empire, and he is clad in a white cape with a distinguishing slit in the back. Any ideas?
The "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" release date is on Dec. 15, 2016.
