'Blade Runner 2' filming begins in July; Ryan Gosling joins Harrison Ford; Script is 'damn' good says Ridley Scott

Sony Pictures announced that the filming of the classic sci-fi Blade Runner would begin in July. Ryan Gosling will join Harrison Ford in the latest Blade Runner 2. Ridley Scott said in an interview that the script is already done, and it's 'damn' good.

Geek reported that Sony Pictures only announced two cast members so far. Harrison Ford will reprise his role as Richard Deckard while newcomer Ryan Gosling will be his partner. There's still plenty of time to gather the remaining cast of the film since filming is still seven months away.

The first Blade Runner was released back in 1982, which showed a dystopian Los Angeles in which genetically manufactured creatures called Replicants were used for a dangerous job in Earth's colonies in outer space. Replicants who returned to planet Earth were hunted down by police special operatives know as Blade Runners, with Harrison Ford playing an old Blade Runner, who takes on one final mission.

According to the Collider, Ridley Scott will not be directing Blade Runner 2. Instead, Dennis Villeneuve, the director of Sicario will take the role of helming the most awaited sci-fi classic, Blade Runner 2. Hampton Fancher and Michael Green will also help Dennis Villeneuve in polishing the script. Also, the excellent cinematography of Roger Deakins of Sicario will be applied in Blade Runner 2.

Ridley Scott expressed his disappointment at not being able to direct Blade Runner 2. It is difficult for the director to film it right now since he is still attached to making Alien movies. However, The Hamilton Spectator reported that Scott will still produce Blade Runner 2. Sony Pictures also announced that they will be distributing the film internationally while Warner Bros. will distribute in the US.

With all these news circulating on the web, fans can expect that Blade Runner 2 will offer not only astounding visuals but also a solid story. With Harrison Ford reprising his role and Ryan Gosling joining him, it's quite safe to say that Sony Pictures wanted to exceed everyone's expectations in Blade Runner 2.
