The Syrian opposition said that it will not the peace talks in Geneva. This meeting will tend to end and hold negotiations regarding the war that began five years ago.
According to The Daily Mail, the opposing parties in Syria are stern that they will not appear in the Geneva meeting. They said that they didn't received any convincing terms and condition regarding the constant air strikes and blockades in Syria. They reiterated that they may turn up to the meeting if their request will be granted but if not, the chances of them attending is slim. They are trying to get back their territory from rebels with the help of Iran and Russia.
A member of the High Negotiations Committee, George Sabra said that there will be no delegations coming from the committee to head for Geneva. The HNC had been finding definite guarantees including a stop to the attacks on civilians, lifting of blockades and the release of the detainees. They mentioned this terms during a Security Council resolution which endorses the peace process in Syria. Head of the Syrian opposition council, Riad Hijab demands critical steps to decrease the sufferings that the Syrians are experiencing right now.
A Kurdish faction that controlled wide areas in northern Syria was included in the talks which in turn discouraged some of the invitees. Turkey has viewed this group as terrorist. Secretary of State John Kerry is one of those that pushes the negotiations, he said that it is an historic opportunity to engage in talks without preconditions to end the war, which in turn displaced 11 million residents. The conflict created refuges spanning from other states and Europe.
Even if the negotiations get on the way, Syria still faces a very huge challenge. One of these is the disagreements of Assad's future and the brewing tension between its ally Iran and Saudi Arabia.
