A lawsuit was filed against rapper Jay Z after he allegedly failed to promote his own fragrance. The court case was made by the fragrance company that made his perfume and is seeking to $18 million in damages from the artist.

As reported by Mail Online, Parlux Fragrances filed a lawsuit last Tuesday in the Manhattan Supreme Court against the rapper, whose real name is Shawn Carter. The lawsuit claimed that Jay Z failed to appear in shows and interviews to promote his fragrance.

Jay Z was supposed to make 6 different promotional appearances which include an appearance in Good Morning America, an interview with Women's Wear Daily, and an in-store appearance in Macy's. He was supposed to make social media posts as well which were not actualized.

The court documents by Parlux Fragrance claim that Jay Z's perfume, named Gold Jay Z, has declined in sales as it lacked support and promotion from the artist. "Sales of Gold Jay Z have declined considerably because of Jay Z's and his teams lack of interest in supporting and promoting his own brand.", Parlux claims as reported by Gossip Cop.

Parlux Fragrances also claimed that Jay Z declined in six different times for the promotion of the product. The company stated that they created five prototypes of the perfume for which they collaborated with Jacob the Jeweler for the bottle's solid gold caps and gold drizzled design.

According to New York Daily News, each bottle of the prototype cost $20,000. "Mr. Carter rejected all of them and kept the prototype", the court papers stated. Jay Z also allegedly kept his guaranteed $2 million up-front loyalty fee.

Parlux Fragrance stated that they also received lack of substantive feedback from Jay Z and his management team when they met with Jay Z's business manager to pitch ideas for off shoot fragrances and other private collections. The fragrance company is seeking to get back the $2 million royalty payment from Jay Z's camp as well as 300,000 stock shares in Perfumania, and $18 million in damages.
