‘Spider-Man’ Reboot release date delayed to July 2017; First look at Tom Holland in ‘Captain America: Civil War’ set

'Spider-Man' is an upcoming action-adventure standalone film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) following the adventures of the iconic web slinging superhero. Sony pushed up the film's release date to early July 2017. Tom Holland will make his debut as Spider-Man in the Russo brothers' 'Captain America: Civil War' slated to be released this year.

According to Coming Soon, Sony Pictures moved up the latest live-action adaptation of 'Spider-Man' from its original July 28, 2017 slot to July 7, 2017. The new slot was originally for 'Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales' but this too was moved up to May. The upcoming reboot for 'Jumanji', originally set to premiere during the Christmas holidays, has been rescheduled to fill the July 28 spot left behind by 'Spider-Man'.

Tom Holland is the latest actor to portray the web slinging superhero, following in the footsteps of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield. Holland is set to debut his character in the upcoming film 'Captain America: Civil War' alongside Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr. and Scarlett Johansson. According to Comicbook Resources, the latest Avengers team-up is slated to hit theaters on May 6, 2016.

Although Holland is temporarily missing from Marvel's footage, teasers and posters for 'Civil War', executive producer Louis D'Esposito posted an image of himself alongside the young actor in the filming set on January 23. Games Radar featured the photograph from D'Esposito's personal twitter feed showing Holland and the producer in what looked to be a control room flanked by green screen.

Directors Joe and Anthony Russo explained Spidey's absence from promotional material saying that both Marvel and Sony had some issues to sort out. They said, "The reason why we still won't talk about [the costume] is that Marvel and Sony still have to work out what uses they have for the character, on a promotional level, on a commercial level. There's still complications as far as that goes that involves business deals."

'Spider-Man' is an upcoming reboot starring Tom Holland. The yet untitled film is directed by Jon Watts based on a screenplay by John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein. It is scheduled to be released on July 7, 2017.
