'Avengers: Infinity War' may feature a crossover with characters from the Marvel/Netflix series but it is possible that a recasting may take place. Charlie Cox, star of Netflix's popular 'Daredevil' web television series, may not appear as the character in the big-screen adaptation.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Charlie Cox of Netflix's 'Daredevil' series admitted that he is interested in extending his role as the masked crime fighter Matt Murdock a.k.a Daredevil. However, he admitted that he has not been approached for any sort of negotiation as of the present.
He said, "I have no idea [how the universe will come together]... Marvel TV and Marvel Studios are two very different things. So even if the character was to appear in that film, that doesn't necessarily mean that I would appear in that film." Cox then joked that he would "pick a fight" with whoever lands the role for the upcoming Avengers team-up.
Cox is the lead protagonist of one of Marvel's web television projects. His 'Daredevil' Netflix series is also set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and shares continuity with full-feature films in the franchise. According to ET Online, 'Daredevil' is one of the series of shows that will eventually lead up to the 'The Defenders' crossover series joining 'Jessica Jones', 'Luke Cage' and 'Iron Fist'.
All episodes of 'Daredevil' were released to critical acclaim, with many praising the storyline, action and most especially Cox's performance as the titular superhero. According to Cinema Blend, Marvel previously hinted at possible crossovers between their theatrical and television releases. It was reported that characters such as Daredevil, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage might make it to the big-screen adaptation of the 'Avengers: Infinity War'.
Directors Joe and Anthony Russo explained that the properties in the shared universe, although interconnected, may also be independent from each other in terms of creative control.
Anthony Russo said, "The films are controlled by a group led by Kevin Feige, so they function as a unit. Other products, even if they are from Marvel, are controlled by others... There is the possibility of a crossover, but it's more complicated... As storytellers, we only have control over what happens in Marvel movies, but everything is possible."
'Avengers: Infinity War' is an upcoming two-part installment directed by Joe and Anthony Russo. Part one is scheduled to be released on May 4, 2018 while part two is slated for May 3, 2019. The two films are intended as part of the MCU's Phase Three.
