'Fast 8' Updates: Movie poster released on Vin Diesel's Instagram account; Fast 8 set in New York City?

By

The first poster for the eighth installment of Fast & Furious series was publicly announced by Vin Diesel in his Instagram post just a few days ago. The poster shows a view of a skyline in New York where the film will primarily be shot and is entitled Fast 8.

As reported by Business Standard, F. Gary Gray, the director of Straight Outta Compton, has been hired to direct Fast 8 while Neil Moritz is going to produce the movie alongside Vin Diesel. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Jason Statham, Tyrese Gibson, Michelle Rodriguez and Ludacris are expected to return together with Vin Diesel still as the lead actor.

Rumors are still unconfirmed whether the main antagonist of Fast 8 will remain to be Jason Statham but according to Movie News Guide, Fast 8 will reportedly have a darker storyline as Gray is expected to bring out the depth in the portrayal of the characters, setting a new ambiance for the film. He said he did not feel the pressure of taking over one of the highest-grossing movies ever, but instead felt excited to bring the people the next franchise. As reported by the Christian Today, Brian O'Connor will be represented in one way or another in Fast 8 although it will not be as an actor as in the seventh installment, as stated by NBC Universal vice president Ron Meyer.

There's also a rumor circulating on the web that some parts of Cuba is being scouted as a good location for some of the scenes as the United States government has now relaxed its restrictions a little to allow for certain kinds of commerce, trading and travel to the country.

It is likely that Cody Walker would return as late Paul Walker's double with detailed CGI effects to match his Paul's face, or a new character will be introduced that has the same character quality as O'Connor. Nevertheless, with the release of Fast 8's new poster, fans are now more eager to see their favorite actors hit the pedal in Fast 8.Fast 8 is to be released on April 14, 2017, and the US release will be on April 17.
