With HTC's revelation of the Android 6.0 Marshmallow release date for Canadian carriers for One M9, it turns out that the company is also out for the same update to One M8 units on Sprint. The update is set to come mid this week.
Sprint could be rolling out the Android 6.0 Marshmallow to One M8 phones beginning today. HTC executive Mo Versi revealed late last week that it would come middle this week. This big surprise technically means Marshmallow could be released to the devices of Sprint in between January 20 and 22, 2015.
However, final and exact date of release of the new build to the device will have to be evaluated first by the giant. Accordingly, they have yet to fix some issues brought by the software when ran on One M8. Nevertheless, unlocked versions already received the update and by far there have been no complaints.
Versi first revealed that the update will come to One M8 units of T-Mobile on January 25 via Twitter.
One M8 will receive the Sense 7.0 user interface of HTC on top of the original set of features of Marshmallow. Per changelog seen on unlocked One M8 versions, Sense 7.0 UI will bring the device an almost similar look to One A9's interface.
Sense 7.0 also brings a flatter and simpler design, new icons, new themes app, new notification panel, updated system apps, improved home screen, new widgets, more effective battery management, better settings menu, new app permissions control, new lock screen, plus several other improvements and bug fixes.
Marshmallow's native features include a redesigned app drawer, more convenient notification area, Google Now on Tap, Doze mode, fingerprint support, app links, simplified volume slide, floating window for text selection, custom Chrome tabs, system user interface tuner, RAM memory manager, USB Type-C and USB 3.1 support, new screenshots options, micro SD support, aps and settings backup, Google settings and direct share.
